Zumba – Fitness in Disguise!

If you enjoy moving and shaking your hips to a Latin beat, you’ll love this dance workout. Zumba® is one of our most popular classes and there’s no confusion as to why – it’s a workout in disguise!

Alberto “Beto” Perez created Zumba® by accident one day when he used his own music consisting of salsa and merengue to teach an aerobic class in 2011. As the class went on, Perez started using “dance-fitness” moves inspired by the music. Zumba® has been a hit since!

“Since its inception in 2001, the Zumba program has grown to become the world’s largest – and most successful – dance-fitness program, with more than 12 million people of all shapes, sizes and ages taking weekly Zumba classes in over 110,000 locations across more than 125 countries.”

Fitness 2000 offers two classes: Zumba® and Zumba® Toning. Zumba® Toning adds the toning stick to the basic moves to blast calories, bump up the energy, and sculpt arms, abs and thighs.

If you haven’t tried Zumba® before, don’t be afraid! “Zumba can be modified to fit everyone’s needs. Your instructor will be more than willing to help you with this. Also, set a personal goal to get through 20 minutes the first couple weeks then bump it up to 30. Continue to kick it up a little every few weeks and before you know it an hour will have flown by.
